After a world tour in David Bowie’s band he then joined Mick Jagger for live dates in Japan and America. Other tours and gigs include Peter Frampton, Stevie Nicks, Alan Parsons Project, Rick Astley, John Parr, Joan Armatrading, Mike Oldfield, Matt Munro, John Barry.



Versatility is one of Richard’s foremost assets having played with artists from Public Image Ltd and Sade, to sessions with the LSO and RPO. Richard was a key figure in the team that launched Russell Watson and subsequently worked in that Classical crossover stylie with acts such as Amichi, Dominic Miller, Summer, Ryandan, Myleene Klass and Opera babes (owch).

Richard’s keyboard playing has been featured on movie gems as Planet 51, The Muppet Movie, Cody Banks, Ladyhawke, Rules of Engagement, Magic Roundabout, Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, The Man Who Knew Too Little, Harriet the Spy, while his compositions have been heard on Ali G “Indahouse”, Mitchell’s + Webb’s “the magicians” and Arabian Nights.

Although he’ll tell you he’s a musician by trade, Richard has been getting more involved with writing, arranging and production during his career. As is the need these days, as the shape of the industry changes, Richard has his own digital studio with all the usual bollocks in it and can provide a one-stop shop from writing music, recording and mixing it. (clients include Myleene Klass and Rolf Harris, although not at the same time).

writing
Richard wrote a lot of music for KPM, the leading production music company during the 90’s, and many of those compositions were used in movies and TV worldwide. (Spooks, Oprah etc.). TV themes, jingles and idents Richard has written include Pringles, Harry Potter, Ariel, Danone, Hallmark, ch5, Ericsson, 4music, Discovery, and has teamed up with old chum Michael Burdett to co-write some absolute belters like ‘MasterChef’, ‘Homes under the Hammer’ and ‘Mr. Blobby’!

arranging
Over the last few years Richard has arranged and conducted various strings /horns projects including album sessions for popular young beat group McFly, singing sensation Shena, Matt Willis (Busted), Marti Pellow, Claire Martin, Virgina Younger, classical crossover artists Ryandan, Tyrone Piper, Sinead Blanchfield, and is currently working with an exciting new Rock singer Karen-Louise.

The lad has also had a turn at production with albums such as jazz artists Ian Shaw, Claire Martin, Richard Rodney Bennett (Linn Records), sax giants Itchy fingers (virgin), Ryandan for Universal, plus has just completed a production for new artist Steinsson due for release later this year.
